Keep it simple stupid
The KISS theory has been my biggest lesson this year. As of the last few days I can almost officially say that for the first time in what feels like forever, about 12 months now, I can actually see a light at the end of my ‘to do list’ tunnel. A huge relief. The simplest concept of an evening in front of Tv (I don’t have one because I cant afford the time I would waste with it) or going to a movie has felt entirely too frivolous to justify! This is insane and must stop. I hear the theories of creating a balance between work and play but how? Fortunately I love my work, all elements of it, but, one does need to allow them self time to switch off occasionally and relax. Ive made various pacts with myself but none have succeeded to date. As a result of lessons learnt and with desperate determination to remain working in ‘real time’ I’ve decided to put my photography on hold for awhile. Ive struggled to kick this off lacking facilities and resources and without the time to get it organised. I dearly love my camera, in fact my fingers start itching for it if I haven’t used it in awhile, and still have big plans but….all in good time. I have webdesign coming out of my ears and want to keep my focus there for the moment.
Admittedly Im my own worst enemy. Being a perfectionist jobs tend to take longer than they need and are done, undone, redone, undone again… Mad. So much time wasted and, so far, I can honestly say I cant see what I have to show for it all?? Certainly not my bank account. I’m hoping that one of my near future lessons will be on how to earn actual money, or for money to become a motivation. Ive read ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’, great book and utterly inspiring but Ive got ‘poor dad’ mentality and money doesn’t enter into the equation for virtually anything I do. The bane of my existence. Suggestions anyone???
Quick Edit: No, thats not true. Money does enter into the equation but more a matter of “it will pay off in 10 years". I’m still quite sure I’m missing some important points!
