Growing up in New Zealand
I found this posted on Facebook. If you grew up in NZ its guaranteed to bring memories flooding back! Really great. The original author is, unfortunately, unknown…
I’m talking about hide and seek/spotlight in the park. The corner dairy,
hopscotch, four square, go carts, cricket in front of the garbage bin
and inviting everyone on your street to join in, skipping (double
dutch), gutterball, handstands, elastics, bullrush, catch and kiss,
footy on the best lawn in the street, slip’n’slides, the trampoline with
water on it (or a sprinkler under it), hula hoops, jumping in puddles
with gumboots on, mud pies and building dams in the gutter. The smell of
the sun and fresh cut grass.‘Big bubbles no troubles’ with Hubba Bubba bubble gum. A topsy. Mr
Whippy cones on a warm summer night after you’ve chased him round the
block. 20 cents worth of mixed lollies lasted a week and pretending to
smoke “smokes” (the lollies) was really cool!.. A dollars’ worth of chips
from the corner take-away fed two people (AND the sauce was free!!).

SURVEY: Who would you do?
Ok, here we have 13 random lovelies (ADULT WARNING). Ive found a variety of pictures though realise a few variations are missing and want to know WHICH ONE DOES IT FOR YOU (if any)? You are imagining that all of these ladies are offering you their services and they’re all the same rate! (what rate is irrelevant). All you have to go by in making your choice is the photo. She has no text in her ad and you cant call her or anyone else to ask questions. By all means give your opinion in the comments here, then, please head over to the Forum and Vote on the Poll!

Anzac Day, 2009

Anzac Day today. Despite my 3:45am alarm (which Im positivily convinced is UN-GODLY) I made it to the march in Whangarei. Today was special. My Father marched with the Representatives wearing my Grandfathers Medals which include a DCM. I never met my Grandfather, he died before I was born, but I’ve always wished I knew him. He never talked about the war. In fact, he refused even to go the ceremony when his medals were awarded. I don’t know how he’d feel about us bringing them out today but, we’re proud of him…and perhaps now he knows? The story of his war is a great one, though no-one knew it until my Grandmother did some research after Granddad had died.
It was a great morning…and one that wouldnt be the same without the dawn (aka NIGHT time)
. I realise Anzac Day is primarily about remembering the fallen but it does all feel too sombre to me. I felt like I wanted to be cheering and singing happy songs in celebration of bravery and in thanks for the sacrifices. Giving thanks doesnt seem to work so well when everyone is mournful. Either way, fanastic to see so many young people and particularly special that my Grandmother, at 95, was able to join us.
Ive had more than a few lumps in my throat today…
