One Rainy Sunday and a likeable murderer

Nice. I’ve been able to clean my balcony of bird poop, my fault for feeding the local pigeons who I now all but share my home with. More than a few guests have been amused by birds traipsing through the living room only to sit and watch proceedings from their perch on my kitchen bench. Max and Mary below. Also caught up on ironing…exciting stuff. Last night Ginger and I had a date with Perfume, a movie showing at the Civic for the film festival. Wow. How is it that a man who murders 12 (and accidentally kills one other) woman is the one you’re sad about when he ‘evaporates’ at the end? I loved and hated it, was on tender hooks for the entire duration with a sense of foreboding that drove me mad. My concerns weren’t unjustified. Going was Gingers idea, she’s read the book so I was given a brief idea of what to expect. Nice evening despite my bad idea to head off for treats after we were seated. The place was packed. It took me too long to find the popcorn stand amidst grave and horror thoughts that perhaps this place didn’t have one. Was it even possible?! I got there but wound up in three wrong cues before getting it right only to realise id dropped my movie ticket so had to forgo my position in correct cue and back track my steps. I found it, a little trampled but a survivor! Returning to correct cue I eventually had my turn at the counter…the popcorn had sold out. Bugger. Popcorn became Cornetto ice-cream. My excursion took 20 minutes, fortunately Perfume was running 10 minutes late and my bottom found seat exactly as the curtain went up. I go to movies about once a year and every time vow to do it more often, even weekly. Love Movies.
